The 5 Shops Offering the Best Wigs in New South Wales
My sister recently experienced sudden hair loss and felt completely overwhelmed. She initially tried visiting a regular hair salon, hoping a clever cut would hide the patches, but severe shedding eventually requires a dedicated hairpiece.
A crowded, noisy studio without any privacy shattered her confidence entirely. A sensitive medical situation demands discreet fitting rooms and compassionate experts who understand scalp sensitivities.
I wanted to spare others that awful experience. I contacted regional specialists, visited private consultation suites, and talked to local buyers about their purchases to uncover the best wig shops in New South Wales.
Here’s my list of compassionate boutiques for a flawless match.
How much does a wig cost in New South Wales?
Wig prices across New South Wales typically run from $250 for a basic synthetic piece to $2,500+ for a fully custom medical-grade wig, depending on hair type, cap construction, and fitting services.
| Wig Type | Estimated Cost (AUD) | Best Suited For |
| Synthetic Wigs | $250 – $600 | Budget-conscious wearers, quick fashion styling, everyday convenience |
| Human Hair & Blend Wigs | $500 – $1,500+ | Natural movement, heat styling flexibility, daily wearers |
| Specialised Medical Wigs | $1,000 – $2,500+ | Alopecia, chemotherapy patients, sensitive scalps, fully custom caps |
1. Hair2Stay

Website: hair2stay.com.au
Address: Suite 1, 8-10 Somerset Avenue, Narellan, 2567 (inside Mortgage Choice office)
Contact: 0411 884 576
Hours: Monday-Friday, 10 am–5 pm
Hair2Stay made my list for pairing clients with tailored hairpieces through personalised studio consultations.
I really liked their dedicated fitting support. It helps you narrow down options without feeling rushed. That matters a lot if you’re dealing with sudden hair loss and don’t know where to start.
I popped into their studio recently to check out their creative hat wig combinations, which I thought were a clever idea. Medical patients can slip on casual headwear with attached hair for quick school runs or grocery errands.
The range also includes easy-care synthetic options. It also has premium Remy human hair toppers that seamlessly conceal thinning crowns.
The one thing to know is that the studio operates inside a Mortgage Choice financial office, so it doesn’t feel like an entirely dedicated boutique space.
Absolutely wonderful
Theresa was absolutely wonderful, not only did she have a huge range of options to choose from, she was extremely professional , understanding and kind. She turned what could have been a very daunting experience into an extremely positive one. I would highly recommend her to anyone who needs a wig or hair topper, for medical reasons or otherwise.

Very happy with my purchase
Theresa was amazing to deal with as a nervous first time customer. She had a good range of toppers and wigs for my style, and helped me decide what works for me without pushing higher cost products which is a huge deal for me. Very happy with my purchase, highly recommend and will definitely be back to Theresa if I ever need to.

2. Milk & Honey

Website: mhwigs.com.au/pages/sutherland-sydney
Address: Shop 5 / 1-7 Boyle Street, Sutherland, 2232
Contact: (02) 8515 4083
Hours: Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Milk & Honey works out of a calm Sutherland studio, pairing bespoke human hairpieces with high-grade synthetic caps. I think that private setting matters when you need total confidentiality while managing chemotherapy or alopecia.
If you’d rather stay home, they offer virtual consultations too. These bring expert fitting advice straight to your living room.
A close friend booked an online consultation and appreciated how thoroughly the team explained cap construction and sizing.
Comfort is another strong point in my view. Their breathable cap liners prevent irritation during long days of wear. Each lightweight piece is designed to make your everyday routines feel refreshingly normal again.
The stylists also take time to customise the hairline and density, so the piece flows naturally.
My one complaint is availability. Appointments fill up quickly, and walk-ins aren’t permitted.
Amazing wig
The quality of the hair is beautiful! I do love the colour it is one of my favorite Colors 613. I just wish that maybe there was a more natural hairline as I do love this color and this wig so much. Possibly a caramel root to ease into it too. Other than that it is absolutely beautiful, and just an amazing wig the texture and the way it falls is gorgeous. It came to me pretty quick and overall I am very happy. Thanks Milk and honey

3. Medical Wigs Australia

Website: medicalwigsaustralia.com.au
Address: 5/39 Darcy Road, Wentworthville, 2145
Contact: 0433 719 171
Hours: Wednesday-Friday, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM | Saturday, 10:30 AM – 4:00 PM
What stood out to me about Medical Wigs Australia is its private and pressure-free one-hour appointments. They’re led by founder Julie, who is an experienced hairdresser and understands fragile scalps intimately.
She recently walked a close friend through custom cap measurements. She carefully adjusted low-density synthetic strands to replicate the original hairline.
I also like that their pieces completely avoid the heavy appearance typical of budget retail options
You also get free domestic shipping on orders over fifty dollars. There’s a generous refund and exchange policy too if you feel unsure. I think that kind of flexibility takes some pressure off a decision that already feels overwhelming.
Julie also provides tailored cutting and styling. This makes sure the piece frames your face seamlessly.
The main thing to plan around is their schedule. The physical showroom stays closed Sunday through Tuesday.
Absolutely wonderful experience
I had an absolutely wonderful experience with Julie during a very difficult time in my life after being diagnosed with breast cancer. From the moment I met her, Julie was kind, compassionate, and incredibly patient. She took the time to listen and making sure I felt comfortable and happy with my wig choice. Her knowledge made what could have been an overwhelming experience feel reassuring. Julie also helped me with the styling of my wig, which made such a difference and helped me feel like myself again. I am so grateful for her care and support.

Highly recommend
We recently bought a medical wig from Julie who was lovely and very understanding. She is knowledgeable about what styles suit faces whilst still giving you lots of room to choose. She’s also a hairdresser and can trim the wigs if they need a bit of adjustment.
Highly recommend seeing her if you’re needing a good wig.

Address: Opp Lowes on Level 2 in Castle Towers, 6-14 Castle Street, Castle Hill, 2154
Contact: 0433 670 116

The range at Sammi Wigs is huge. It covers everything from creative costume pieces to heat-friendly natural lace fronts. That gives theatre performers and daily wearers real freedom to experiment.
A colleague actually visited their Castle Hill storefront while shopping for a lightweight lace front and appreciated the patient styling advice.
I also like their specialised collection. It uses durable Japanese Kanekalon fibre that combines realistic texture with soft hues for mature wearers.
The staff can even customise individual orders if you need unusual lengths or cap dimensions.
They also offer flexible payment options like Afterpay. Free Australian shipping is available on qualifying orders too. I think that makes a pricier piece much easier to budget for.
The one thing to plan around is their hours. Extended evening hours are only available on Thursdays.
Totally recommend
This store has a fantastic range of wigs, and Sammi is truly passionate about helping customers find the perfect fit. She went above and beyond to ensure I was happy with my purchase at an affordable price, and I couldn’t be happier with my new wig, which has blonde streaks and a shorter style, which my friends
and I, love😊 👍😍
Thank you again, Sammi for the exceptional service, your kindness and amazing products!
I totally recommend you to get your wigs and hair products from Sammi Wigs🌟

5. The Wig Lady

Website: thewiglady.com.au
Area served: New South Wales
Contact: 0407 896 415
Hours: Monday-Sunday, 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM
I think The Wig Lady solves a real problem. Some people are simply too exhausted for retail appointments during rigorous medical therapies.
Diane, the business’ wig-fitting specialist, drives straight to your front door across New South Wales with hundreds of curated styles in tow. Her mobile van carries hundreds of premium options, so you can try pieces within the privacy of your own bedroom.
I actually found out about this shop from a neighbour who used their service while undergoing chemotherapy. She spoke warmly about how comforting it was to avoid crowded waiting rooms.
She also supplies specialised care shampoos and conditioners to preserve each fibre afterwards.
On top of that, she assists with fitting adjustments on the spot. That helps your cap feel secure and comfortable.
Because she operates entirely on wheels, there’s no brick-and-mortar storefront for spontaneous visits. Instead, you book a scheduled home visit rather than stopping by a showroom.
Grateful
Diane was so kind, compassionate, and understanding. She took the time to explain the different wig options and how to care for them and made what was an emotional experience feel safe and supported. I’m so grateful for her care and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Diane at The Wig Lady to anyone going through this journey.

I recently lost my hair due to chemo and was feeling down and out about how I looked. Not only did Diane get back to me so quickly. Diane came to my house and helped me pick out the perfect wig to make me feel and look like me again. I would highly recommend her services.
Quick, easy, affordable, and a very compassionate person to help you find the perfect wig.
