Sit pretty with the 5 best furniture stores in Sydney

  • Build quality: I looked for sturdy materials and solid construction. A new sofa shouldn’t give up before I do.

  • Delivery options: Bulky furniture and apartment lifts can be a tricky pairing. I checked delivery and assembly options.

  • Sustainability: I looked for responsible sourcing and take-back programmes that give old pieces another life.

  • Showroom experience: A sofa can look perfect online and feel awful in person. I favoured showrooms where I can try before I buy.

  • Value for money: A big price tag isn’t a quality guarantee. I weighed prices against construction and structural warranties.

The renovation contractors are still discussing measurements, but I’ve already chosen a spot for the sofa. My imagination’s clearly ahead of the building schedule.

Now I’m hunting for the best furniture store in Sydney to make that daydream real. A good-looking lounge matters, but so does one that’ll survive years of movie nights.

I’ve rounded up local showrooms worth visiting before the dust settles. Let’s find the pieces that’ll make a new space feel like home!

How much do items cost at a furniture store in Sydney?

Furniture in Sydney costs about $100 to over $4,000 AUD per item. Prices vary by furniture type and retailer.

Sofas and lounges range from $500 to $4,200+ AUD. Beds and bed frames cost $180 to $2,200 AUD.

Chests of drawers and buffets range from $200 to $1,300+ AUD. Coffee tables and entertainment units cost $100 to $1,000 AUD.

1. BoConcept Flagship Store NSW

boconcept-flagship-store-nsw

Website
Address: 575/597 Pacific Hwy, Crows Nest
Contact: +61 2 9437 0066
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM | Saturday-Sunday, 10 AM – 5 PM

I can picture a BoConcept sofa in my future living room, even if the renovation plans are still covered in pencil marks. The Crows Nest flagship is a good place to explore that daydream, with Danish-designed furniture you can see up close.

Many pieces come with choices of fabrics, finishes and configurations, so there’s room to find something that suits your space.

If the options start to blur together, the store’s designers offer free in-store advice to help you narrow them down.

BoConcept offers delivery and installation, which is welcome news when your new sofa won’t fit in the car. I’d check the arrangements for my chosen piece before ordering, though.

Do note that the showroom closes pretty early, so an after-work browse could be a squeeze. BoConcept also estimates 16–18 weeks for upholstered pieces, so a custom sofa may arrive well after your move-in date.

Pros

  • Customisable fabrics, finishes and configurations on many pieces
  • Free in-store interior design advice
  • Delivery and installation available
  • Open on weekends

Cons

  • Closes early
  • Estimates 16–18 weeks for upholstered furniture

Attentive Service and Furniture Design Advice

Her product knowledge and design advice made choosing the right furniture easy, and nothing ever felt like too much trouble. It’s refreshing to deal with someone who is so attentive and focused on ensuring you make the right decision for your home.

I highly recommend Sasha to anyone considering BoConcept furniture. If you’re looking for outstanding service and someone who genuinely cares about helping you find the perfect pieces, Sasha is the person to see.

Friendly Staff and Respectful Shopping Experience

The staff at the Bo Concept store at Crows Nest are very friendly and knowledgeable.  They treat their customers with respect and don’t rush you into making a purchase. I have bought furniture from this store on more than one occasion, and I have been very happy with the products I have bought and the experiences I have had.

2. Sydney Home Furnishings Waterloo

sydney-home-furnishings-waterloo

Website
Address: Shop 3, 201 Botany Road, Waterloo
Contact: +61455565553 | [email protected]
Hours: Wednesday-Friday, 4:30 PM – 7 PM | Saturday-Sunday, 10 AM – 6 PM

My renovation wishlist is growing faster than the floor plan, so Sydney Home Furnishings’ mix of new and pre-owned pieces caught my eye. The Waterloo store could be a useful stop when the sofa budget has already taken a hit.

The business says it steam-cleans and inspects its pre-owned sofas before they reach the showroom. I’d still give any second-hand find a proper look in person, but there’s appeal in giving a good piece another chapter.

You can browse new sofas, beds and dining furniture online, and ask for a delivery quote if a purchase won’t fit in your car.

There are bundle specials too, but I’d check exactly what each one includes before rearranging the room in my head.

The pre-owned selection is available to browse in-store only, though, so you can’t shortlist those pieces from your couch.

Weekday visits also take some planning: the shop is closed Monday and Tuesday, then opens only from 4:30 PM to 7 PM Wednesday to Friday.

Pros

  • Sells new furniture and restored pre-owned sofas
  • Says pre-owned sofas are steam-cleaned and inspected
  • Offers furniture bundles and delivery quotes
  • Opens on weekends

Cons

  • Pre-owned range can only be browsed in-store
  • Closed Monday and Tuesday; open for a couple of hours only from Wednesday to Friday

Great Sofa Purchase and Excellent Quality

I had a great experience purchasing a sofa from this store. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all my questions without any pressure. There was a wide range of styles and colours to choose from, making it easy to find the perfect sofa for my home. The quality exceeded my expectations, and the comfort is excellent. Delivery was smooth and on time, with the team handling everything professionally. The entire process, from browsing to delivery, was hassle-free. I’m very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend this store to anyone looking for quality furniture.

Seamless Delivery and Exceptional Customer Care

Danny communicated with me throughout the entire process, and the delivery and installation were quick, seamless, and stress-free. I’m absolutely over the moon with my new lounge and couldn’t be happier with the service provided. I would highly recommend Danny and his business to anyone looking for quality furniture and exceptional customer service. Thank you for helping turn our house into a home!

3. Eva Furniture Surry Hills House

eva-furniture-surry-hills-house

Website
Address: 75 Fitzroy St, Surry Hills
Contact: 0416 567 400
Hours: Monday and Tuesday by appointment, Wednesday – Friday, noon-6 PM, Saturday – Sunday 10 AM – 6 PM

I can spend five minutes on a showroom sofa and still have no idea whether we’re meant to live together. Eva’s Surry Hills House lets me try the furniture in person, then gives me 60 days at home with eligible pieces.

Mattresses come with a 100-day trial, which is plenty of time to settle a bedtime argument. The brand is a Certified B Corporation, and its Timber Bed Frame has a tool-free setup that sounds kinder than a bag of mystery screws.

I’d pop into the Fitzroy Street showroom to compare the sofas, bed frames and mattresses on display.

If getting there’s tricky, Eva offers virtual consultations too.

There’s a catch to the furniture trial: Eva requires a 30-day wait before you can request a change-of-mind return. Monday and Tuesday showroom visits also need an appointment, so a spontaneous start-of-week sofa test won’t work.

Pros

  • 60-day furniture trial and 100-day mattress trial
  • Virtual consultations available
  • Tool-free setup for the Timber Bed Frame
  • Certified B Corporation

Cons

  • Must wait 30 days before requesting a change-of-mind trial return
  • Monday and Tuesday showroom visits require an appointment

Impressive Showroom with Friendly, Helpful Staff

Eva just opened their showroom today! The staff are all super friendly. Amanda and Verena were so helpful and answered all our questions. We were very impressed with the furniture. All their pieces are a great blend of modern and functional. The drawers under the bed are a great idea, and the modular sofas too.

They had some croissants and pastries for their opening today too. All in all, customer service is great, the furniture looks aesthetic, and we definitely will be back for furniture in the future ☺️

Functional Versatile Design and Great Service

I was looking for a compact, minimalist but functional sofa for my living room, ideally with washable covers. AI recommended Eva’s Slideaway Sofa Bed. The showroom in Surry Hills is only 10 minutes walk from Central Station. Vanessa, the sales agent, was friendly and helpful. The timber slat base is so beautifully designed and the cushions are firm and supportive. I got to choose two colours, with one for free under the EOFY promotions. I now have a sofa, a daybed and a double bed – all in one versatile piece of furniture!

4. Jardan Sydney Showroom

jardan-sydney-showroom

Website
Address: 42 Oxford Street, Paddington
Contact: +61 2 9663 4500 | [email protected]
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9 AM – 5:30 PM | Saturday-Sunday, 10 AM – 5 PM

I’m still talking about layouts with the renovation contractors, but Jardan’s sofas have already moved into my imaginary living room.

Its Paddington showroom is arranged to help me picture furniture at home, which beats guessing from a swatch.

Jardan makes its furniture to order in Melbourne, with sizes and finishes to choose from across the range. That’s handy when the floor plan has opinions of its own.

Its upholstered sofas and armchairs come with a ten-year structural warranty covering frames, suspension and support. If I wanted more help pulling a room together, Jardan offers an on-site design consultation for $250, redeemable against a purchase.

However, I’d settle the fabric choice before ordering: Jardan asks for written notice of changes within 24 hours of confirmation, and later changes may cost extra or prove impossible.

The consultation fee’s purchase credit lasts three months, so I wouldn’t book that service too far ahead of buying.

Pros

  • Furniture made to order in Melbourne
  • Choice of available sizes and finishes
  • Ten-year structural warranty on upholstered sofas and armchairs
  • On-site design consultation fee can be redeemed against a purchase

Cons

  • Order changes should be requested in writing within 24 hours of confirmation
  • The $250 on-site consultation fee’s purchase credit expires after three months

Incredible Showroom Space and Beautiful Furniture

What an incredible space this is on Oxford Street. The Jardan furniture is so on point, and the showroom is styled to perfection. The GROUNDED exhibition I viewed there last night was so special; Liz Sunshine’s photos of her Scandinavian journey are exquisite.

Timeless Designs with High Quality Service

We love Jardan.  Their furniture is absolutely beautiful, both in their timeless designs and high quality. It’s all Australian made, and they have a wonderful range of colours and fabrics to choose from. They only make your pieces once you place your order, which means no excess stock and no furniture wastage, which is great for the planet. What really sets them apart are the super friendly and incredibly helpful staff. We decked out four new rooms with their beautiful furniture, rugs and cushions.

5. Koskela

Hours: Contact via online store

The renovation plans are still moving around, but I’ve already found a corner for a Koskela sofa. Its Australian-made furniture gives me plenty to picture while I wait for the walls to catch up.

Koskela is a Certified B Corporation with a focus on making furniture that lasts. I like that its ReHome programme gives eligible Koskela pieces another chance at life, with trade-in credit towards a future purchase.

Its collaborations with First Nations artists and art centres bring distinctive art, lighting and fabrics into the range. There’s more to explore than sofas if your new room needs a finishing touch.

Getting a larger piece home takes some planning, though, as furniture deliveries are generally scheduled for Mondays.

And if you live above the ground floor, it’s best to check the item’s weight and your building access with Koskela before ordering.

Pros

  • Australian-made furniture
  • Certified B Corporation
  • ReHome trade-in credit for eligible Koskela furniture
  • Collaborations with First Nations artists and art centres

Cons

  • Larger furniture deliveries are generally scheduled for Mondays
  • Upper-floor delivery depends on safe access, lift availability or item weight

Thoughtful Advice and Beautifully Finished Furniture

We had seen some furniture at Koskela we liked, and made a follow-up appointment with Marnee to talk through various options and fabric choices. She gave us thoughtful advice and helped us imagine how the furniture might fit into our space. On the day of delivery, Jaro and Graeme negotiated stairs and tight doorways before carefully unwrapping and positioning our new furniture. We are very happy with our choice — it’s beautifully made and finished and very comfortable.

Unique Items and Genuine Helpful Staff

Koskela is full of unique, diverse and interesting items of furniture, manchester and soft furnishings. I was assisted in my purchase of a large piece of furniture, which had special significance for me, by a member of staff who was understanding , friendly and most important of all, genuine in helping me make the decision. I look forward to returning when Koskela reopens.
