Be better protected with the 5 best alarm systems in New South Wales

Licensing and Accreditation: I checked that each provider holds active NSW security licences. No dodgy operators slipped past my radar.

Service Range: I favoured teams that handle design, installation, and ongoing support. Security shouldn’t become a DIY puzzle after handover.

Local Presence: I prioritised established NSW offices and local technicians. Nearby help can mean a quicker response when something goes beep in the night.

Pricing Transparency: I looked for clear quotes and upfront consultations. Surprise fees are one alarm nobody needs.

Reviews and Reputation: I compared genuine feedback across major review platforms. Consistently happy clients helped separate dependable providers from smooth talkers.

I’ve recently rented private storage spaces for a few valuables, and now I want more than a sturdy padlock. My peace of mind shouldn’t hinge on crossing my fingers!

The best alarm system in New South Wales should make security simpler, not bury me in a technical waffle. I’m looking for responsive local experts, reliable equipment, and advice that’s refreshingly straightforward.

These providers offer tailored protection for homes, businesses, and storage spaces across the state. Let’s see which teams can keep prized possessions safe without setting off my stress alarm.

How much does an alarm system cost in New South Wales?

An alarm system in New South Wales usually costs $400 to $6,000. The final price depends on the property size, equipment, and installation complexity.

Basic wireless kits range from $400 to $900. Standard home alarm systems typically cost $800 to $2,000.

Larger homes and complex setups may cost $1,500 to $3,500. Integrated systems with alarms, cameras, and smart controls range from $2,500 to $6,000.

Back-to-base monitoring costs an additional $25 to $60 per month. Extra sensors, cameras, and ongoing maintenance may increase the total.

When it comes to home security, I’d rather skip the guesswork and call someone who’s been around the block.

Incorporated in 1988, SM Security Services has handled thousands of electronic security installations.

The team works across multiple brands and tailors each setup to the property rather than pushing a standard package. Its experience covers everything from compact homes to large commercial and government sites.

I particularly like its 4G monitoring solutions, which can keep alarm signals moving if phone or data connections fail.

The company offers straightforward controls, along with alarms, CCTV, intercoms, access control, and ongoing servicing.

However, its coverage centres on Sydney, the North Shore, Northern Beaches, and Northern Suburbs. Customers elsewhere in New South Wales planning a major security upgrade may need to look elsewhere.

Pros

  • Incorporated in 1988
  • Has completed thousands of security installations
  • Tailors systems to individual properties
  • Works with multiple security brands
  • Offers 4G monitoring solutions
  • Handles alarms, CCTV, intercoms, and access control
  • Provides ongoing servicing

Cons

  • Coverage centres mainly on selected Sydney regions

Excellent alarm system

Stefan provided us with an excellent alarm system that we happily use every day. I am very grateful that he was willing to come for a property inspection and quote on short notice, and that he provided honest and thoughtful advice. I really like Stefan’s knowledgeable and personable approach, as it helps me understand and trust in the security of the systems he installs. Will definitely call on him again for any future security needs.

Delivered a product to us that far surpassed our needs

Stefan was referred to me by a friend whose family had used his company’s services for many years, and I see why. He is nothing but thorough, attentive and accurate – what you need in a security company. Stefan was always punctual and delivered a product to us that far surpassed our needs for a very reasonable price. His after-sales service continues to excel, unlike a lot of other companies whose service stops when they receive payment. I would recommend SM Security Services to anyone seeking a trustworthy and reliable alarm installation or repairs.

Messy cables aren’t exactly my idea of a stylish home upgrade, so I like that Alarm Doctor offers both wireless and hard-wired systems.

Its technicians install, repair, maintain, and upgrade alarms rather than treating every property like a one-size-fits-all job.

The team works with major brands including Bosch, Hills, DSC, and Paradox, which gives households more room to choose.

Mobile app controls, back-to-base monitoring, cameras, and battery services can bring several security needs under one roof.

I’m particularly drawn to the published package pricing and quick-response service across metropolitan Sydney. It saves me from playing detective before I’ve even secured the house.

The catch is that technical support isn’t available around the clock despite the 24/7 monitoring options. Some faults are referred to manufacturers, while emergency alarm assistance costs $195.

Pros

  • Installs and services both wireless and hard-wired systems
  • Works with major brands, including Bosch, Hills, DSC, and Paradox
  • Offers mobile controls and back-to-base monitoring
  • Publishes selected package prices
  • Provides repairs, maintenance, and battery services

Cons

  • Technical support isn’t available around the clock
  • Some faults are referred to product manufacturers
  • Emergency alarm assistance costs $195

Keep up the great work

Basil and his team are great. Really friendly, professional and great at what they do, as well as always being on time. I recommend them to anyone who requires anything to do with alarms, whether it’s a new install or a fix to an existing alarm system. I know I won’t be calling anybody else other than the Alarm Doctors.  Thanks so much, team; keep up the great work.  Thanks John

Top choice for alarm systems

I highly recommend Alarm Doctor! I received a prompt and professional response to my initial inquiry, and the job was completed within hours. Basel is excellent at what he does—kind, approachable, very helpful, and truly professional. I really appreciate his “nothing is impossible” attitude. Alarm Doctor is my top choice for alarm systems. Thank you for the outstanding service!

I’d rather not turn my walls into Swiss cheese just to feel secure, so Platinum Security Systems’ wireless options catch my attention.

The team tailors Ajax alarm setups to residential properties and can integrate CCTV for broader coverage.

Smartphone controls make arming the system, checking cameras, and receiving notifications far less fiddly. I like that its technicians reportedly walk customers through the app instead of leaving them alone with a manual and a blinking keypad.

The company handles design, installation, maintenance, and post-installation support for homes and businesses.

Its experience with access control, intercoms, and hard-wired cameras makes it useful for more involved security upgrades.

However, the team appears to favour Ajax wireless alarms rather than a wide range of competing systems. It might not suit those committed to another brand.

Pros

  • Tailors Ajax wireless alarm systems to individual properties
  • Integrates alarms with CCTV and smartphone controls
  • Handles design, installation, and maintenance
  • Provides app walkthroughs and post-installation support
  • Offers intercoms, access control, and hard-wired cameras

Cons

  • Favours Ajax alarms over competing systems (might not suit customers wanting another brand)

Very happy with this service

Platinum Security installed our new intercom and alarm system. After some initial issues, Rhys came out and diagnosed the issue with the intercom and made some adjustments on the alarm. I really appreciated Rhys attending to my call in a prompt and efficient manner. He explained the features of both systems, provided a walk through demonstration and made adjustments. Very happy with this service. Thanks Rhys and Courtney from Platinum Security for organising this follow up service.

Very happy customers

Highly recommend Platinum security systems.  Our technician Martin was very knowledgeable and was able to set all systems up and ready for us to takeover with no dramas. He explained with a lot of patience until we understood the alarm and camera system.  We are very happy customers with Martin and platinum Security systems.

Hours: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM; Friday–Sunday hours vary; confirm before visiting

If an alarm goes off, I’d rather have trained monitoring staff notice than rely on me checking my phone over breakfast.

Thankfully, Fort Security Systems offers 24-hour back-to-base monitoring, with alerts sent directly to a professional monitoring station.

The team designs tailored setups for homes, shops, warehouses, and construction sites. Its services cover alarms, CCTV, access control, intercoms, smartphone monitoring, and even solar cameras for trickier locations.

I like that the company handles everything from system design and installation to maintenance and fault-finding.

Its NSW Master Licence adds another useful credential, though customers should still verify that it remains current.

The catch is that its coverage focuses on Sydney and selected surrounding areas, so availability elsewhere in NSW needs confirmation.

Pros

  • Offers 24-hour back-to-base monitoring
  • Designs systems for homes, businesses, and industrial sites
  • Installs alarms, CCTV, access control, and intercoms
  • Provides smartphone monitoring and solar cameras
  • Handles maintenance and fault-finding
  • Publishes an NSW Master Licence number

Cons

  • Service coverage focuses mainly on Sydney and nearby areas/availability elsewhere in NSW requires confirmation

Great to deal with it

Nick and Talal came out and upgraded our CCTV system to a 24hr full-colour system, and also installed a GPRS module to our existing alarm system so we can now arm and disarm the system from anywhere in the world and receive instant alarm notifications.

The boys were professional, knowledgeable, and great to deal with from start to finish. The quality of the installation was excellent and everything was explained clearly. Highly recommend Fort Security Systems for anyone looking for quality security work.

Highly recommend

Nick and Talal came out and installed a new Ajax alarm system along with a video intercom at my property. Their work was outstanding — everything was installed neatly and professionally, and they took the time to explain how the system works.

The quality of the installation and attention to detail was amazing. Highly recommend Fort Security Systems for anyone looking for a reliable and professional security setup.

Technical setups can make my eyes glaze over, so I appreciate a team that explains what every button does. Fortify Security and Electrical brings more than 20 years of combined experience to security and data projects.

Its technicians design and install alarms, cameras, intercoms, access control, and monitoring systems for homes and businesses.

They work with recognised brands including Hikvision, Bosch, Ajax, Axis, and Inner Range.

I like that one team can handle both the security equipment and related electrical work. Ongoing CCTV maintenance, customer service support, and a lifetime workmanship warranty add welcome reassurance after installation.

The only drawback is the strict geographical limitation, as they only serve areas like the Newcastle, Maitland and Central Coast regions.

Pros

  • Has more than 20 years of combined experience
  • Explains system controls clearly to customers
  • Installs alarms, CCTV, intercoms, and access control
  • Works with recognised security brands
  • Handles related electrical work in-house
  • Provides CCTV maintenance and customer support
  • Offers a lifetime workmanship warranty

Cons

  • Coverage is regionally focused

Top blokes

Donny & Damian popped out this morning to hook up our shop with a camera and alarm system. Got it all up and running and walked me through the set-up on my phone too, so no questions were left unanswered!

Top blokes who deserve a beer, I say

Excellent job

Fortify Security did an excellent job installing our alarm system and cameras. The team was professional, efficient, and very knowledgeable. They took the time to explain how everything works and made sure the installation was done neatly and correctly. We feel much more secure and would highly recommend Fortify Security to anyone looking for quality security installation and service.
