5 Best Speech Therapists in Gold Coast for Better Support

  • Qualifications and Experience: We checked credentials, registrations, and hands-on experience. Extra points went to therapists who work confidently with speech delays, literacy concerns, and swallowing issues.

  • Treatment Range: We looked for clinics that don’t stop at pronunciation. The strongest options cover children and adults, including articulation, social communication, motor planning, feeding, and more.

  • Accessibility and Scheduling: Good therapy isn’t much help if you can never book it. We favoured clinics with practical hours, easy access, and flexible telehealth or after-school options.
  • Pricing Transparency: Nobody likes a surprise bill. We compared session fees, assessment costs, and report charges, with clearer pricing scoring better.

  • Care Approach: We looked for therapists who tailor sessions instead of using a one-size-fits-all plan. Practical home exercises and a supportive, collaborative style counted for plenty.

My niece has a speech defect, so I know how quickly a simple conversation can turn into a patience exercise for everyone. Finding the best speech therapist in Gold Coast can make those little breakthroughs feel huge.

The right support isn’t just for kids learning tricky sounds, either. Some people need speech therapy as part of wider medical care, sometimes alongside pros such as orthopaedic specialists in Gold Coast.

Gold Coast families have plenty of options, but not every clinic will suit every personality or need. So we compared local providers to help you find someone who makes communication feel a little less daunting.

How much does it cost to hire a speech therapist in Gold Coast?

Private speech therapy on the Gold Coast usually costs $150 to $250 AUD. A standard session typically lasts around 45 to 60 minutes.

An initial assessment package generally costs $220 to $550+ AUD. This usually covers the direct evaluation and a detailed written report.

NDIS-funded speech therapy may be charged at up to $193.99 per hour. This follows the applicable NDIS pricing schedule.

Written reports and formal letters may cost around $193.99 per hour. This can include progress reviews and medico-legal documentation.

1. Gold Coast Speech Therapy

Website

Address: Ground floor, 120 Queen Street, Southport

Contact: 07 5647 6120

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7.30 AM – 5.30 PM

What I like about Gold Coast Speech Therapy is that it doesn’t box patients into one age group. Kids, teens, and adults can all access support for speech, language, literacy, feeding, and swallowing concerns.

Principal speech pathologist Hanna Bowler brings experience across health, education, disability, and private practice. That broad background makes the clinic feel especially useful for families dealing with more than one communication challenge at once.

Her training includes approaches such as SOS feeding therapy, while her work mentoring students and health professionals adds another reassuring layer.

The Southport location is practical too, with weekday hours running from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

The main catch is that the clinic is closed on weekends. Families juggling school, work, and therapy appointments may need to be a little strategic with their calendars.

Pros

  • Supports children, teens, and adults
  • Covers speech, language, literacy, feeding, and swallowing
  • Principal speech pathologist has broad clinical experience
  • Offers specialised feeding support
  • Convenient Southport location
  • Long weekday hours from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM

Cons

  • Closed on weekends

Grateful

My 8-year-old son was having difficulty with his literacy skills at school. His teacher suggested that we see a speech pathologist for assistance.

Since meeting Hanna, my son has become a different person! He is now confident and progressing well. The resources used in the clinic by Hanna were fantastic, and the fact that we could then take those home with us in between sessions to keep practising really helped my son.

Thanks, Hanna!

Will absolutely recommend

Hanna was able to offer really effective advice for my child who suffers from a stutter. My husband and I were really pleased with the expertise she offered us and the approachable way she interacted with our daughter, who is often very shy! Will absolutely recommend Hanna for speech therapy services.

2. My Therapy Space

my-therapy-space

Website

Address: 8 Halcyon Way, Hope Island

Contact: 07 5559 9888

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM

With a niece who can get restless the second therapy feels too much like homework, I like My Therapy Space’s more playful approach. Speech goals can be worked into games, movement, cooking, dancing, and obstacle courses.

The Hope Island team sits within a broader allied health setup, so speech pathologists can coordinate with occupational therapists and other clinicians when needed.

That kind of teamwork can be handy when a child’s needs overlap across more than one area.

The downside is that Hope Island is the smaller clinic, with just three therapy rooms, and it only opens Monday to Friday.

Families wanting the larger gym and full kitchen setup will need to head to Burleigh Waters instead.

Pros

  • Play- and movement-based speech therapy
  • Multidisciplinary allied health team
  • Speech pathologists can coordinate with other clinicians
  • Activities may include games, cooking, dancing, and obstacle courses
  • Good fit for children who engage better through active sessions

Cons

  • Hope Island is the smaller clinic, with three therapy rooms
  • Larger gym and full kitchen facilities are at Burleigh Waters
  • Closed on weekends

Highly recommend

The occupational therapists and speech pathologists at this clinic are excellent. Caitlin and Sarah are brilliant. The admin staff are also lovely. Highly recommend. The Hope Island clinic has moved to a new location that is much more spacious and has more offices to better accommodate more clients. The parking is better at this location too.

So grateful

We are so grateful for this service. Moving up from Sydney and leaving all of our previous supports behind was nothing short of daunting. Shae is the best OT we’ve ever had; my son loved her almost immediately, and he is a wonderful judge of character. And Kate is the best speechie we’ve ever had, hands down. Together they make a dream team! Thank you so much for all of your support. And Trish, for the one-off sessions with Elijah as well, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to help us. We really appreciate everything.

3. Mermaid Speech

Website

Address: 191 Varsity Parade, Varsity Lakes

Contact: (07) 5666 6699

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8 AM – 5 PM | Friday, 8 AM – 2 PM

When you’ve got a loved one who struggles to get the words out, vague answers are the last thing you want.

Mermaid Speech stands out for giving families clear early direction after assessment, with support spanning speech clarity, language, literacy, social communication, and voice.

The clinic keeps things child-focused without making every session feel like another round of schoolwork.

I like that their fees are published upfront too, because therapy costs can snowball quickly.

There are a few catches, though. Reports and letters cost $193.99 per hour or part thereof; HICAPS isn’t available, and agency-managed NDIS clients aren’t accepted.

Friday hours finish early at 2 PM, and the clinic is closed on weekends. For busy families, that can turn booking into a bit of a calendar puzzle.

Pros

  • Clear early direction after assessment
  • Supports speech clarity, language, literacy, social communication, and voice
  • Child-focused approach
  • Published fees make budgeting easier
  • Accepts self-managed and plan-managed NDIS clients

Cons

  • Clear early direction after assessment
  • No HICAPS for on-the-spot private health claims
  • Agency-managed NDIS clients aren’t accepted
  • Fridays close early at 2 PM
  • Closed on weekends

The best for my kid

Charlotte is so professional. She built a connection to my kid quickly and found the problems. We can see the improvement each lesson.

Charlotte is not the only speech therapist we saw, but she definitely is the best for my kid and our whole family.

4. Little Language

little-language

Website

Address: Suite 1, 29 Commerce Drive, Robina

Contact: (07) 5679 5609

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM – 5 PM

I’m always drawn to clinics that make practice feel less like homework. Little Language keeps things child-focused, playful, and practical, with support for speech sound disorders, childhood apraxia, and other communication concerns.

The locally owned female team brings more than 30 years of combined experience.

I especially like that home practice is built around each family, so progress doesn’t have to stop when the appointment ends.

The main limitation is that Little Language is a paediatric clinic. Adults needing speech therapy will have to look elsewhere, which makes it a more specialised choice rather than a one-stop option for the whole family.

Pros

  • Paediatric-focused speech therapy
  • Supports speech sound disorders and childhood apraxia
  • More than 30 years of combined team experience
  • Locally owned female practice
  • Family-centred, play-based approach
  • Individualised home practice activities

Cons

  • Doesn’t cater to adult speech therapy needs

Customer Reviews

Absolutely wonderful

We love Little Language Speech Therapy.

Chloe is absolutely wonderful with my 4-year-old Cali. So kind and caring, especially as she is very shy and needs a lot of creative ways to get her to be comfortable speaking!

Would highly recommend to anyone. Can not speak highly enough of this place!

5. Teddy Talk

teddy-talk

Website

Address: 3029 The Blvd, Carrara

Contact: +61478896328

Hours: Monday-Saturday, 8:30 AM – 6:30 PM (tailored times available)

Teddy Talk caught my eye straight away. The Carrara clinic supports children in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, which can make therapy feel far more familiar for multilingual families.

Sessions cover areas like stuttering, speech sounds, and language development through child-friendly activities. I like that they encourage families to keep using their home language instead of treating bilingualism like a problem to fix.

The flexible hours help too, with appointments available Monday to Saturday and later slots for busy families. That’s handy when school, work, and therapy all seem determined to land on the same afternoon.

The main limitations are the age range and smaller core team. Teddy Talk works with children only up to 12 and currently lists two qualified speech pathologists, so families wanting more clinician choice may prefer a larger practice.

Pros

  • Supports children in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin
  • Welcoming option for multilingual families
  • Covers stuttering, speech sounds, and language development
  • Encourages continued use of the child’s home language
  • Child-friendly, play-based sessions
  • Flexible Monday-to-Saturday hours

Cons

  • Services are limited to children aged 0–12
  • Small core team with two qualified speech pathologists (less clinician choice than larger practices)

Grateful

Bonnie is professional and passionate in her speech therapy.  My son is picky about therapists, but Bonnie managed to bond with him since the first session, and he enjoyed every session with 100% participation.  We are grateful to have her as our speech therapist.

Sharon Tseng| Google Review

Highly recommended

We are so blessed to be able to have Bonnie as our son’s speech therapist,  he’s been seeing different therapists in the past 5 years, we’ve never met someone who’s so passion, knowledgeable and professional.  She’s also very gentle and friendly. With Bonnie’s help and guidance, we are so excited to see areas of improvement in Tenoch’s speech! We are very pleased and highly recommend her, especially for bilingual families!
