5 Best Gynaecologists in Gold Coast for Women’s Care

  • Medical Expertise & Credentials: We checked each doctor’s specialist training and women’s health qualifications. When care gets complicated, you’ll want someone with the credentials to match.

  • Treatment & Service Range: We looked for clinics covering everything from routine screenings to specialist procedures. Fewer referrals and clinic-hopping? Even better.

  • Patient Care & Communication: We considered how well doctors listen, explain, and put patients at ease. Sensitive conversations are much easier when you don’t feel rushed or judged.

  • Clinic Facilities & Accessibility: We checked clinic quality, location, and appointment access. Good care shouldn’t come with a logistical obstacle course.

When your mate runs a prenatal massage centre, you tend to hear which women’s health professionals are worth knowing. That gave me a handy head start while looking for the best gynaecologist on the Gold Coast.

Of course, good credentials only tell part of the story. I wanted specialists who listen properly, explain things clearly, and don’t make sensitive appointments feel more awkward than they need to be.

So I checked out local gynaecologists offering care across different stages and concerns. This guide rounds up the standouts, with a closer look at their services, approach, and overall patient experience.

How much does it cost to see a gynaecologist in Gold Coast?

An initial private gynaecologist consultation usually costs $225 to $350 AUD. More complex first appointments can cost up to $400.

For an initial consultation, the Medicare rebate may be around $84 to $86. This leaves an estimated out-of-pocket gap of about $140 to $250.

A complex initial visit may still receive a rebate of roughly $84 to $86. The remaining gap can reach around $316.

Follow-up consultations generally cost $125 to $150. A standard Medicare rebate may apply, so your final out-of-pocket cost will vary.

Fees differ between specialists and clinics. Check the consultation fee and expected Medicare rebate before booking.

1. Dr Miriam Lee Gynaecologist and Fertility Physician

Website

Address: Suite 303, Level 3, 7-11 Short Street, Southport

Contact: +61 (7) 5564 6886

Hours: By appointment

If a friend asked me for a Gold Coast specialist who covers both fertility and general gynaecology, Dr Miriam Lee would be one I’d mention.

Her background spans reproductive medicine, advanced laparoscopy, and everyday women’s health, so she’s got more than one lane covered. I like that her service list goes beyond consultations.

She handles laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation, and both hormonal and non-hormonal IUD insertions, which can save patients from being bounced between specialists.

A GP referral is preferable, though it’s not strictly mandatory. It can still make the first appointment smoother by giving her a clearer picture of your medical history.

The downside is that everything runs by appointment only. So this isn’t the place for an impromptu drop-in when your schedule suddenly clears.

Pros

  • Covers both fertility and general gynaecology
  • Advanced training in reproductive medicine and laparoscopy
  • Offers diagnostic and procedural care under one specialist
  • Provides hormonal and non-hormonal IUD insertion
  • GP referral is preferable, not strictly mandatory

Cons

  • Consultations are strictly by appointment/no walk-in option for spontaneous visits

Highly recommend

I have been seeing Dr Miriam Lee for about 12 months now, and I have found her to be extremely good and very professional.  I needed to go into Day Surgery on several occasions, and her bedside manner was very caring, and she is extremely honest in her communications.  I highly recommend Dr Lee as a Gynaecologist.

Longtime patient

Dr Lee has been my Gynaecologist for over a decade, and has treated me for some minor issues over the years.  Recently I required surgery for a condition after exhausting all alternative options. I could not be happier with my treatment/ surgery outcome.  I only wish I had done it sooner. I had several medical practitioners say that if they were needed similar surgery, they would want to get Dr Lee to do it. Highly recommended…

2. Grace Private

Website

Address: Ground Floor, Suite 5, 14 Hill Street, Southport

Contact: 07 5594 7632

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8 AM – 4:30 PM

Grace Private is the kind of clinic I’d shortlist if I wanted plenty of women’s health expertise in one place.

Their Southport team covers general gynaecology, fertility, menopause care, pelvic health, and gynaecological oncology.

I like that patients aren’t boxed into one narrow service. Depending on the issue, you can access gynaecologists, women’s health GPs, fertility specialists, and other allied health professionals within the wider practice.

Specialist appointments generally need a doctor’s referral, while some other services can be booked directly. That setup makes the clinic feel well suited to both routine concerns and more complex care pathways.

The main catch is parking around the Mater Private location. Underground parking is paid, while free street spaces nearby are limited and can be a bit of a treasure hunt.

Pros

  • Broad range of women’s health services
  • Access to gynaecologists, fertility specialists, and women’s health GPs
  • Covers menopause, pelvic health, and gynaecological oncology
  • Multidisciplinary team under one practice
  • Some non-specialist services can be booked directly

Cons

  • Specialist appointments generally require a doctor’s referral
  • Paid underground parking at the Mater Private location/limited free street parking nearby

If I wanted one specialist to follow me from preconception through pregnancy and beyond, Dr Suzan Elharmeel would be an easy name to remember.

Her practice covers fertility, high-risk pregnancy care, pelvic pain, endometriosis, and general gynaecology.

I like that she’s a certified colposcopist too, which adds another layer of expertise for cervical and Pap smear abnormalities. Her approach is personalised, so treatment plans can take your medical needs, preferences, and lifestyle into account.

She’s on call 24/7 for her own patients, which is especially reassuring during pregnancy.

Plus, her rooms are opposite Pindara Private Hospital, making things more convenient if you need hospital-based care or surgery.

The main drawback is the weekday-only schedule. With no regular evening or weekend clinic hours, booking around work may take a little juggling.

Pros

  • Covers fertility, pregnancy, and general gynaecology
  • Provides high-risk pregnancy care
  • Certified colposcopist
  • Treats pelvic pain and endometriosis
  • On call 24/7 for her own patients
  • Conveniently located opposite Pindara Private Hospital

Cons

  • Regular clinic hours are weekdays only/no standard evening or weekend consultations

4. Dr. Hassan Suhad

Website

Address: Suite 3, Level 5, Pindara Specialist Suites, 29 Carrara Street, Benowa

Contact: 07 5597 6887

Hours: Monday-Tuesday, Thursday, 8 AM–5 PM | Wednesday, Friday, 9 AM–3 PM

Dr Suhad Hassan stands out to me for making sensitive women’s health conversations feel a little less daunting. Her practice covers gynaecology, obstetrics, and fertility, with a strong focus on personalised care.

I like that her background includes high-risk pregnancy care and advanced laparoscopic procedures. That gives her a broader scope than a clinic focused only on routine consultations.

Her practice also puts real emphasis on discussing delicate concerns with sensitivity. For anyone who hates feeling rushed or awkward in a medical room, that’s a meaningful plus.

The main drawback is the schedule. With no weekend hours, you’ll need to fit appointments around weekday commitments.

Pros

  • Covers gynaecology, obstetrics, and fertility
  • Experience with high-risk pregnancy care
  • Background in advanced laparoscopic procedures
  • Strong focus on personalised, sensitive care
  • Free parking available at Pindara Specialist Suites

Cons

  • No weekend consultations
  • Shorter clinic hours on Wednesdays and Fridays

Customer Reviews

Highly recommend

Dr Hassan is very knowledgeable, gentle and understanding. I was impressed with the precision and care she puts into her work. After having had a traumatic experience elsewhere in the past, now having the same procedure with Dr Hassan was a walk in the park. Also, her nurse Linda was so supportive. I highly recommend it!

Compassionate, understanding

I am truly grateful for Dr Suhad’s care and professionalism throughout my pregnancy. She always took the time to ask about my preferences and made sure I felt heard and respected. When I was feeling overwhelmed and anxious about my gestational diabetes, she was incredibly supportive and motivating. Her kindness and encouragement made a big difference in helping me stay calm and confident. Thank you, Dr Suhad, for being such a compassionate and understanding doctor.

5. Dr Sean Holland, Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

dr-sean-holland-obstetrician-gynaecologist

Website

Address: Suite 5, Level 1, Pindara Place, 13 Carrara Street, Benowa

Contact: 07 5539 2797

Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:30 AM – 4 PM | Friday, 8:30 AM – 3 PM

Dr Sean Holland stands out to me for taking tricky, often brushed-off gynaecological concerns seriously. His special interests include endometriosis, vulvovaginal pain, lower genital tract disorders, and high-risk pregnancy care.

I like that his approach isn’t limited to surgery. He uses both surgical and non-surgical options, with treatment plans shaped around the patient rather than a one-size-fits-all fix.

For vulvovaginal pain, first appointments can run 45 to 60 minutes, which gives plenty of room for a detailed history.

His clinic also handles procedures such as endometrial sampling and Mirena insertion in-office.

The downside is the shorter Friday schedule. With the clinic closing at 3 PM, late-afternoon appointments may take a bit more planning.

Pros

  • Special interest in endometriosis and vulvovaginal pain
  • Manages high-risk pregnancies
  • Offers both surgical and non-surgical treatment options
  • Longer initial consultations for vulvovaginal pain cases
  • Provides in-office procedures such as endometrial sampling and Mirena insertion
  • Uses individualised, evidence-based treatment plans

Cons

  • Shorter clinic hours on Fridays

Customer Reviews

Very thankful for him

Dr Sean Holland has been my gynaecologist since 2018. Dr Holland is the only specialist I trust in treating my endometriosis. I recommend Dr Holland to anyone who approaches me regarding my endometriosis, and will continue to do so. Dr Holland has demonstrated the highest quality of patient-centred care, and we are so very thankful for him and his team at Pindarra ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Forever grateful

I would highly recommend Dr Holland to anyone. After years of undiagnosed pain, when I went to my appointment with Dr Holland, I finally felt like someone had taken the time to listen to me after all these years and helped me to find out the cause of the problem. I will forever be grateful to Dr Holland and all that he has done.
