5 Best Masonry Contractors in Perth We’d Trust With the Job

Structural Know-How: We looked for contractors who know WA soil, building codes, and load-bearing work inside out. Perth ground movement isn’t something you want guessed at.

Material Quality: We favoured masons using durable stone, reclaimed brick, and paving suited to coastal conditions. Bonus points for quality local sourcing.

Specialist Skills: Basic bricklaying wasn’t enough. We prioritised teams experienced in crack stitching, heritage repointing, and detailed stonework.

Project Transparency: Clear communication and hands-on oversight mattered. We preferred contractors who keep jobs organised rather than passing them around to mystery subcontractors.

I’ve been eyeing a few premium home improvements for my limestone house, and masonry is one area where I refuse to cut corners. Perth’s double-brick homes and coastal limestone deserve workmanship that looks sharp and lasts.

From tired boundary walls to new retaining walls and feature stonework, small mistakes can become very expensive very quickly. Sandy soil and brutal summer heat don’t exactly make life easier for mortar, either.

That’s why finding the best masonry contractor in Perth means looking for tradies who understand local materials, conditions, and council requirements. These teams stood out for craftsmanship that feels worthy of a proper home upgrade.

How much does it cost to hire a masonry contractor in Perth?

Hiring a masonry or bricklaying contractor in Perth typically costs $47 to $125 per hour. Fixed jobs usually run from $58 to $135 per square metre.

Standard bricklaying costs around $58 to $135 per sqm. Brick boundary fences cost roughly $58 to $135 per sqm.

Garden feature walls range from $84 to $230 per sqm. Brick retaining walls are pricier at $250 to $650 per sqm.

For restoration work, repointing and brick repairs generally cost $80 to $150 per sqm. The final price will depend on the job size, materials, access, and complexity.

1. Kernowstone Perth

kernowstone-perth

Website

Service Area: Perth Region

Contact: 0435 481 763

Hours: Daily, 7 AM – 7 PM

Kernowstone Perth is the sort of team I’d call when limestone starts looking more tired than timeless. They specialise in heritage restoration and blend traditional masonry with modern repair techniques.

They’ve handled large projects for Oswald Homes, which adds some reassuring polish to their track record. For a premium home, I’d rather have that level of detail than masonry that merely passes from a distance.

They cover natural-stone paving, fireplaces, pool features, and custom finishes too. That makes them handy if one stone upgrade suddenly turns into three.

The catch is cultured stone, as they work exclusively with Midland Brick products.

If your heart’s already set on another manufactured-stone brand, this may be where the romance ends.

Pros

  • Specialises in heritage and limestone restoration
  • Uses traditional and modern masonry techniques
  • Has experience on large Oswald Homes projects
  • Handles paving, fireplaces, pool features, and custom stonework
  • Strong fit for premium residential projects

Cons

  • Cultured-stone work is limited to Midland Brick products (may not suit clients set on another manufactured-stone brand)

Lasting Quality Masonry Work

Look no further if you require any masonry work. Mark is dedicated and passionate about his craft, having completed our two front pillars, internal entry wall and rear patio pillar a little over 2 years ago. Quality stone complemented our render, which Mark helped us select based on his expertise. Great value and very punctual, responded to emails promptly if we had any questions. All of his work looks just as good as the day it was fitted. Thank you once again, Mark, for your hard work and effort; we really appreciate it.

Exceptional Stonemasonry Craftsmanship

So glad to have found a dedicated craftsman. Mark has exceptional stonemasonry skills. He created a stunning fireplace which will be enjoyed by all for decades to come. So grateful for your attention to detail, professionalism and integrity.

2. Art In Stone

Address: 74 Houghton Dr

Contact: 0412 188 271 | [email protected]

Hours: Available 24/7

Art In Stone feels like a good fit if you want stonework with a bit more personality than plain old brick and mortar.

The owner brings over 35 years of masonry experience from England, Scotland, Jersey, and the Channel Islands.

That background covers residential builds, apartment projects, landscaping, and specialist carving.

I like that they can source a stone you already have in mind or show samples if you’re still playing favourites.

Their work includes stacked-stone fireplaces, granite walls, feature walls, restoration, and architectural carving. It’s the sort of range that suits a home where one stone upgrade can easily snowball into three.

The main catch is scheduling flexibility. Because the stonemason works on only one project at a time, clients needing a very specific start date may have fewer options.

Pros

  • Over 35 years of masonry experience
  • Background across the UK and Channel Islands
  • Handles residential, apartment, and landscaping projects
  • Offers specialist carving and restoration work
  • Can source preferred stone or provide samples
  • Works on one project at a time for focused attention

Cons

  • One-project-at-a-time scheduling may limit start-date flexibility (may be less suitable for clients needing an immediate start)

Natural Stone Vision Brought to Life

Absolutely love our natural stone work by Ronnie @artinstone. His professionalism shines through in his work. He really brought our vision to life and exceeded all our expectations. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, friendly and professional stonemason.

Reliable and Skilled Stonemason

Really pleased to see Ronnie out on his own these days. I used to employ him as a mason many years ago, and he was one of the best and certainly most reliable of stonemasons. Always punctual, diligent, honest and doing great work with real attention to detail. (Also an entertaining fellow!)

Bricks Fix WA Restoration & Heritage is the sort of specialist I’d call when an old brick wall starts showing its age a little too dramatically.

Owner Marcus Keeley has worked in brickwork since 1985 and brings British training to Perth restoration jobs.

They’re an approved installer of Thor Helical crack-stitching systems, which gives them a useful edge for structural masonry repairs. Marcus oversees projects himself, and the business says it doesn’t use subcontractors.

Their heritage work covers repointing, lime-based mortars, brick replacement, and restoration using materials suited to older construction.

I like that they focus on preserving character rather than making every wall look suspiciously brand new.

The main drawback is that this is a specialist restoration outfit, so it may not suit clients after basic new-build masonry or a broader one-stop renovation service.

Pros

  • Owner has masonry experience dating back to 1985
  • British-trained and experienced in heritage restoration
  • Approved installer of Thor Helical crack-stitching systems
  • Owner personally oversees projects
  • Doesn’t use subcontractors
  • Experienced with repointing, lime-based mortars, and brick replacement

Cons

  • More specialised in restoration than general new-build masonry
  • May not suit clients wanting a broader one-stop renovation contractor

High-Standard Brick Repointing and Restoration

Marcus is a truly great guy. He was professional, on time, and his work was at the highest standard. He is very knowledgeable, and his many years of experience show in all aspects of his work. The site was left clean and tidy. Could not ask for any more. Would highly recommend him to anyone requiring brick repointing and restoration.

Excellent Mortar Repair and Value

I had Marcus from Bricks Fix do some mortar repairs at our house in Bassendean. He was very professional and pleasant to deal with from start to finish. He did an excellent job and cleaned up beautifully. His quote was competitive, and we feel it was great value. We would definitely recommend his services.

4. Timeless Restorations

Service Area: Fremantle, Cottesloe, Subiaco, Mt Lawley, and wider Perth metro

Contact: [email protected] | 0431 480 309

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7 AM – 7 PM

Timeless Restorations is who I’d call when old brickwork starts leaning a little too hard into the distressed look.

They bring more than 20 years of masonry experience across Fremantle, Cottesloe, Subiaco, Mt Lawley, and wider Perth.

They tackle cracks, tired mortar, repointing, tuckpointing, and Helifix reinforcement where it suits the job.

I like that they inspect first instead of throwing the same fix at every suspicious line in a wall.

Their work comes with a 10-year guarantee, which is reassuring when you’re spending serious money on restoration. They’re especially suited to homes where keeping the original character is half the point.

The catch is that restoration is very much their lane. If you’re planning major new-build brickwork, you’ll probably need a broader masonry contractor.

Pros

  • More than 20 years of masonry experience
  • Covers several key Perth suburbs and the wider metro
  • Handles repointing, tuckpointing, and crack repairs
  • Offers Helifix reinforcement where suitable
  • Focuses on preserving older masonry character
  • Backs work with a 10-year guarantee

Cons

  • Strongly focused on repair and restoration
  • Less suited to major new-build brickwork projects

Stunning Masonry Restoration Results

The crew from Timeless Restoration recently completed the final two stages of the masonry restoration at our Bayswater property, and the result is absolutely stunning! Right from the quotation stage,  through to completion, it has been an absolute pleasure dealing with Ashley, Nikolai and the crew. Their commitment to maintaining an elite standard of workmanship and customer service has been something to admire. If you have any masonry repairs or improvements in mind at your place,  then this is the crew you need on site. The results will indeed be Timeless.

Professional Lintel and Crack Repairs

The lintels above two windows along the back of my brick house were rusting badly, causing cracks in the masonry. Timeless Restorations replaced the two lintels, and they also repaired some wide cracks that were developing in the masonry of the front brick wall of my house. They clearly explained the causes of the problems and what was required to rectify them. Their quote was very reasonable, and I’m very happy with the finished work.

5. Andy Smith Stonemasons

Address: 193 Bridgewater Dr, Kallaroo

Contact: 0421 403 244 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7 AM – 6 PM | Saturday, 8 AM – noon

Andy Smith Stonemasons is the kind of team I’d look at when plain brick just isn’t going to cut it. Established in Perth in 2002, they specialise in natural-stone work for homes, outdoor features, and larger architectural projects.

They’ve worked with builders including Coast Homes and Giorgi Exclusive Homes, which gives their portfolio some serious polish.

Their masons use traditional techniques such as random rubble, book leaf, and rock walling with materials like Toodyay stone, quartzite, and granite.

Their experience stretches to heritage and commercial work too, including the WA Museum and a major mechanically fixed limestone project in Cottesloe.

That range makes them especially appealing for homes where the stonework is meant to be a feature, not an afterthought.

The catch is that natural stone is very much their speciality. If you mainly need straightforward red-brick repairs, a brick-focused contractor may suit you better.

Pros

  • Established in Perth since 2002
  • Specialises in natural-stone masonry
  • Uses traditional walling techniques
  • Handles residential, heritage, and commercial projects
  • Experienced with materials like Toodyay stone, quartzite, granite, and limestone

Cons

  • Primarily focused on natural stone
  • May be less suitable for straightforward red-brick repairs
