Very compassionate
I can’t speak highly enough of Professor Mark Winder and the outstanding surgery and post-operative care I received for a significant lumbar spine problem 6 weeks ago. Professor Winder was very compassionate about my situation and his clinical/ surgical expertise has definitely given me a new lease on life after five months of severe chronic pain. Post-operatively I have made excellent progress and I am most grateful for the wonderful care I received from Professor Winder and Nurse Practitioner Naomi

The operation was a complete success
Dr Winder operated to decompress my spine where bone spurs were pressing on the nerves causing intense sciatica pain in my legs. The operation was a complete success and I am recovering well after 8 weeks. The whole process was very smooth and efficient and Dr Winder was particularly informative at every stage with a very approachable manner. Likewise his office and practice nurse were both friendly and helpful both before and after my surgery.

Has been incredibly positive
I needed to have a spine discectomy procedure done for my sciatica pain and the experience overall from start Dr Mylordi to surgery with Prof Van Gelder has been incredibly positive I am able to think about and do normal things rather than having to think about pain management for a big chunk of my time.

The surgery happened very quickly and has been a success
in 2023 I had a herniated disc Dr van Gelder operated and has Gave me my life back. There was a process and a bit of a muck around by a retired surgeon acting on his behalf that wasn’t overly forth coming but as soon as I got on the right path to Dr Van Gelder the surgery happened very quickly and has been a success. I would have Dr Gelder perform surgery again should I ever need another operation.

Even so, surgery may not be the right choice for every condition, as treatment depends on each patient’s needs. Some patients have also shared concerns about consultations and later sought a second opinion.

Very thorough and I felt very comfortable
I had seen several spinal surgeons to get an opinion on a L4-5/L3/4 spinal fusion. When l saw Mr Lu Ton, he took the time to explain in full the operation, the risks and how long the recovery would be. He was very thorough and I felt very comfortable with Mr Ton preforming the surgery. My recovery was very fast and l was back to work within a few weeks. I can highly recommend Mr Lu Ton and have no hesitations with his wonderful bedside manner and kind demeanor.
5. Spine Institute Pty Ltd

Website: https://www.thespineinstitute.com.au/

Contact: 1300 662 295
Hours: Mon, Wed, Fri: 6:00 AM–6:00 PM, Tue, Thu: 1:00 PM–6:00 PM
Spine Institute Pty Ltd helps patients look at non-surgical options. The clinic focuses only on spinal decompression, a gentler path for people who aren’t ready or eligible for surgery, or who have disc-related issues.
To do this, the team uses five decompression tables. These treat things like sciatica, degenerative disc disease, and lumbar disc herniation.
The clinic is led by Dr. Ilan Sommer. He brings an international clinical background and a clear focus on non-surgical care.
That said, treatment plans often call for frequent visits, which can mean more time and higher costs. Some patients feel mild muscle soreness after sessions, and busy periods may cut into one-on-one time.

Within a few weeks I could walk
When I was introduced to Spine Institute I couldn’t walk 500m nor sleep for more than 50 min without pain. A 35 year old injury came back to haunt me. Within a few weeks I could walk 2 or 3 km (much to the joy of my dog) and sleep 5 hours ( much to the relief of my family). Now five months later I am walking 5km and sleeping through the night.
No back surgery required. Thank you Dr Sommer.
