The 5 best vacation packages in Australia worth every penny

Value for money – We looked for packages that combine experiences, accommodation, and transfers in a way that actually saves you money versus DIY booking.

Flexibility – We included packages that balance organization and traveler freedom, since some travelers want every minute planned; others just want their bed sorted and the rest up to whim.

Uniqueness of experience – We prioritized tours that showcase authentic Australian gems–think Aboriginal experiences, coastal road trips, and wine regions, not just photo op stops.

Customer feedback – We chose those that show good reviews and traveler experiences. After all, real people’s opinions matter more than glossy brochures.

Planning a holiday in Australia isn’t for the faint of heart… there’s just too much to see. Do you start with the beaches, the outback, or the cities that somehow mix both?

That’s where vacation packages come in handy. Instead of juggling flight bookings, tours, and accommodation like a stressed-out travel agent, you can just… let someone else do it.

Some vacation packages are value-packed adventures across multiple states, while others offer a luxury retreat that costs as much as your rent (and maybe your soul). We rounded up five vacation packages across Australia that cater to different types of travelers–whether you’re craving wine, wilderness, or waves.

AAT Kings has been perfecting the art of Australian touring for over a century, and their East Coast Explorer is basically a crash course in everything iconic: Sydney, the Gold Coast, Fraser Island, and the Great Barrier Reef.

Expect a mix of guided tours and free time—perfect for those who want structure and spontaneity. You’ll sail over the reef, visit the Sydney Opera House, and enjoy beach downtime in Noosa.

The tradeoff is that it’s busy. Like, early-morning-departure busy. If you prefer long lie-ins and lazy brunches, this might feel like a boot camp. But for the traveler who wants to tick off every Aussie must-see in one go, this package is unbeatable.

Pros

  • Covers major attractions
  • Expert guides

Cons

  • Fast-paced itinerary
  • Not ideal for those wanting a relaxed holiday

The tour guide and driver were excellent.

I took this tour of New Zealand as it covered both islands. It went from Christchurch to Auckland and I spent a few days in Christchurch before the tour. The tour guide and driver were excellent. They were efficient at their jobs. We stopped thru a lot of small towns; the amount of time spent there was good. I wish there were more time in the big cities, like Wellington.

There was a lot of on and off the bus, normal for a bus tour. Got a lot of pictures in. It was a long flight there – 13 hours. Highly recommended.

It contained everything we wanted to see.

We booked onto the Philip Island and wildlife tour as it contained everything we wanted to see. Met our driver; Richard who was a really nice and informative fella.

Pick up was on time. Coach comfortable and clean. First stop was koala bears, kangaroos, dingos and other animals – excellent. Then off round to Philip Island with a dinner stop at Cowes before heading off to see the penguins at 8.45 – which was amazing. All in all we were out from 12noon – 12 midnight making the tour excellent value. Really glad we did it.

This one’s for the road-trippers who love a good ocean breeze and even better accommodation. Luxury Escapes curates a self-drive package along the Great Ocean Road, with stays in boutique lodges and gourmet dinners at every stop.

You’ll pass the Twelve Apostles, coastal rainforests, and sleepy surf towns. What makes it special is the level of comfort. You get private tastings, massages, and even helicopter ride add-ons if you’re feeling fancy.

It’s not cheap, though. Luxury Escapes is known for quality, but “luxury” here does mean you’ll be paying a premium for curated experiences you could do yourself for less (if we’re being honest). But if you don’t have the time and you have the extra money, this is the best option.

Pros

  • Stunning route with 5-star stays
  • Ideal for slow travelers
  • Gourmet inclusions

Cons

  • Expensive

We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the many areas and pools.

This escape was next level!! The Mulia is just outstandingly luxurious. It is enormous and so grand. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the many areas and pools. Kids club was amazing for our almost 3 year old who travelled with us. Every single staff member we interacted with over the 7 days we stayed, was attentive, friendly and provided exceptional service. They were absolutely wonderful with our son. We felt so special and so glad we chose the Mulia. Luxury escapes was so easy to book through. Highly recommend!!

The facilities are perfect with the choice of restaurants and pools.

We were celebrating a 40th and an 80th birthday so chose the Merusaka as a special destination. We are a family of 4 adults and 2 young children. The resort was perfect and the all inclusive deal suited us. The facilities are perfect with the choices of restaurants and pools. We really enjoyed the food and the endless cocktails were a great source of delight.

This was our second visit and won’t be our last!

For the ones who think “vacation” should involve red dirt, open skies, and stories older than time, Intrepid’s Outback Adventure delivers. The package takes you through Alice Springs, Kings Canyon, and Uluru with Aboriginal guides sharing traditional Dreamtime stories.

Expect campfires, starry nights, and breathtaking views. The accommodations are simple but comfortable, designed for people who want authenticity over glamour.

Just a heads up: temperatures can be brutal, and Wi-Fi is practically non-existent in parts. If “digital detox” sounds like a threat, this might not be for you. But if it sounds like a treat, it’s life-changing.

Pros

  • Immersive cultural experiences

Cons

  • Limited connectivity

It has been a very pleasant excursion.

It has been a very pleasant and super pleasant excursion. Especially when you leave the bustle of the city and can find calm and peace in a beautiful environment. At the point of our break, we enjoyed a delicious meal with beautiful views. Thanks to my guide Sankusha Karki who has made this experience possible!

– Isabel, Tripadvisor

This trip has it all.

By far the best Intrepid trip I have been on, the tour group was so much fun but our guide, Ozgur, was a stand out who went above and beyond to ensure we had the absolute best experience. Top that off with Turkey itself, everything we saw, experienced, city life, coastal life, Mother Nature at its finest, history, culture. This trip has it all.

Cairns, Daintree, and the Great Barrier Reef in one trip… need we say more? This Reef to Rainforest package is an eco-lover’s dream. You’ll snorkel among corals one day and walk through ancient rainforests the next.

The guides are passionate environmentalists who’ll teach you about conservation as you travel. Accommodations vary from beachfront resorts to treehouse lodges. You’re going to feel like a tropical island soul the whole time.

That said, the trip involves a lot of moving around, and if you’re prone to seasickness, prepare accordingly–those reef boat rides can get choppy. But if you want to make your mermaid dreams come true, this is perfect for you.

Pros

  • Diverse experiences
  • Focus on sustainability
  • Great for nature enthusiasts

Cons

  • Frequent transfers and early mornings
  • Weather can affect reef visibility

The entire day was excellent, well planned.

Myself and my friend booked a trip to the Blue Mountains with Aussie Adnventures!

The entire day was excellent, well planned which made it easy for us to relax and make the most of our trip! Our tour Guide Smokey was a credit to the company, he was enthusiastic and exremely knowledgable, not just about Aussie history and the blue mountains, but about different countries which meant he could include everyone in the group despite our diverse cultures! The food provided was really good and the bus was comfortable.

Tasmania often feels like Australia’s hidden treasure, and Viva Holidays knows it. Their package blends Hobart’s history, Bruny Island’s wilderness, and Cradle Mountain’s misty beauty in one smooth itinerary.

You’ll sample local wines, taste-fresh oysters by the bay, and maybe even meet a Tasmanian devil (safely, of course). Accommodations lean toward cozy lodges and eco-retreats, giving the trip a boutique, earthy vibe.

However, Tasmanian weather is unpredictable. Some even say it feels like there are “four seasons in a day.” Bring layers and flexibility in case of sudden rain.

Pros

  • Showcases Tasmania’s natural beauty
  • Excellent local experiences
  • Sustainable

Cons

  • Weather-dependent activities

Very easy booking process…

Placed a query with Viva Holidays and received a quote very quickly from Pankaj. Pankaj was very helpful in listening to my requests and answering all my questions, and we soon had a holiday booked that covered all our needs. Very easy booking process and Pankaj was always on hand to help out, if required. Looking forward to our holiday.
