The top 5 accommodations in Melbourne for every traveler
Melbourne is stylish, effortlessly cool with a hint of old-world charm. Every neighborhood has its own rhythm. And because this city never quite sits still, the hotels reflect that same energy.
You’ll find skyscraper suites that feel straight out of a design magazine, historic buildings that have seen more stories than their guests ever will, and small independent stays that treat you like a returning friend.
We’ve rounded up the best accommodations in Melbourne, each with its own personality, perks, and quirks to match the city that’s perfected the art of making you feel right at home.
1. The Langham, Melbourne

Address: 1 Southgate Ave, Southbank VIC 3006, Australia
Phone: +61 3 8696 8888
Walking into The Langham feels like stepping into old-world luxury. With chandeliers that look like they belong in a ballroom and a lobby scented like roses, this is the kind of place that makes you want to put on a robe and order room service just because.
Overlooking the Yarra River, it’s conveniently close to Federation Square, the Arts Centre, and Melbourne’s best restaurants. The rooms are plush and elegant, complete with marble bathrooms and city views that light up at night.
The Chuan Spa is a favorite among guests, and the buffet breakfast at Melba Restaurant might be one of the best in the city (the omelette station alone deserves a medal).
If there’s one thing to note, though, this isn’t the most modern stay. Some decor leans toward the classic rather than contemporary, and prices climb steeply during events. But if you’re after pampering, charm, and five-star service, The Langham is perfect.
The room is very comfortable and has everything that you need.
The hotel decor might be dated but the service outweighs this. It’s exceptional! Very personalised. The room is very comfortable and has everything that you need. The bed is amazing and you can order a different pillow type if you need.
I really appreciated the fully equipped gym with the cold scented towels and herbal teas. The highlight is the steam room, sauna & hydro showers – one for each gender- plus the indoor pool & jacuzzi with an amazing view over the city. The location is brilliant for a tourist! Walkable to many sightseeing places and eateries.

I loved the clean pool and the professional service.
Everything about this hotel was exceptional! The front desk staff were polite and efficient, and check-in was seamless. My room was luxurious, with comfortable bedding and modern furnishings. The breakfast buffet offered a great mix of local and international dishes. The hotel was close to shopping centers and attractions, yet still very calm and relaxing. I loved the clean pool and the professional service. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone who values comfort and quality.

2. Ovolo Laneways

Address: 19 Little Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia
Phone: +61 3 8692 0777
Ovolo Laneways is what happens when art, energy, and excellent hospitality meet. Tucked in the heart of Melbourne’s laneway culture, this boutique hotel is perfect for travelers who love quirk, color, and the convenience of being able to stumble into a dozen coffee shops before noon.
The rooms come with playful pops of color, retro furniture, and free mini-bars that are restocked daily (yes, free). Guests rave about the complimentary breakfast snacks and evening happy hour. More than the luxury, Ovolo delivers a lot of character.
It’s also one of the few hotels that embraces fun over formality. But, the vibe may be too bold for those seeking a more peaceful escape, and the compact rooms may not suit families. Still, for solo travelers or couples who love a bit of edge and convenience, this is a top-tier choice.
Rooms are nicely designed and comfortable.
What a great location! Had a great stay over the weekend. Rooms are nicely designed and comfortable. Complimentary touches were nice such a a free wine and snacks during happy hour, lolly bar and coffee machine in the lobby.
Rooms were quiet and couldn’t hear anything else from other guests, only downside was some trickling water noise from a pipe occasionally.

The service here is impeccable.
Omg where do I even start. Laneways on ovolo was amazing. My friend and I were here for our birthday weekend and we had such a good time. The service here is impeccable. I love that this hotel had staff on the front desk 24/7, they really made it feel like home. The housekeeping staff always made our room clean for us when we got back!! And shout out to Delilah she was the one to greet us when we first got there and she was so helpful throughout our whole stay you made our trip!! It’s also in such a good location as we mainly walked everywhere. I would 100% stay here again and would highly recommend it.
Thank you again for making our stay feel so special 💕

3. Crown Towers Melbourne

Address: 8 Whiteman St, Southbank VIC 3006, Australia
Phone: +61 3 9292 6868
If Melbourne had a hotel equivalent of a blockbuster, Crown Towers would be it. Known for its grandeur, the hotel sits inside the sprawling Crown Entertainment Complex, complete with luxury shops, restaurants by celebrity chefs, and a casino.
The rooms are sophisticated and spacious, many offering panoramic views of the city skyline or Port Phillip Bay. The 25-meter indoor pool and spa area make it ideal for long stays, and the in-house restaurants like Nobu and Rockpool elevate it even more.
On the downside, the hotel’s popularity means it can get busy and a bit overwhelming. Prices are high, and the atmosphere can sometimes feel more “Vegas” than “Melbourne charm.” But for those seeking world-class facilities and indulgence, Crown Towers stands unmatched.
An unforgettable experience that combines luxury, comfort, and impeccable service.
Crown Towers Melbourne is simply outstanding and deserves every bit of a 5-star rating. From the moment I arrived, the service was warm, professional, and welcoming. The rooms are incredibly spacious, immaculately clean, and beautifully designed with luxurious details. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the bathroom felt like a private spa with its deep tub, rain shower, and premium amenities.
The views over the city and Yarra River were breathtaking, especially at sunrise and nightfall. Dining options within the Crown complex are world-class – from fine dining to casual eats, everything I tried was delicious and beautifully presented. The pool, gym, and spa facilities are second to none, offering true relaxation and rejuvenation.
Its central location makes exploring Melbourne easy, yet inside feels like a tranquil retreat. Overall, an unforgettable experience that combines luxury, comfort, and impeccable service. Highly recommended for any occasion!

The service was warm, attentive, and professional throughout.
🌟 Unforgettable Stay – Stunning Views, Seamless Service & Fantastic Food 🌟
I recently stayed at Crown tower and had an incredible experience from start to finish. The views alone are worth the visit.
The service was warm, attentive, and professional throughout. From check-in to checkout, the staff made sure every detail was taken care of with a smile, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
The location couldn’t be more convenient — close to everything we needed, yet still peaceful and private enough to feel like a true escape.
A wonderful stay overall. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a mix of comfort, convenience, and a little luxury with a view. Will definitely be returning!

4. The Jazz Corner Hotel

Address: 352 William St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia
Phone: +61 3 9454 9000
Music lovers, rejoice! The Jazz Corner Hotel blends boutique style with Melbourne’s legendary music culture. Located right across from Flagstaff Gardens, it features rooms and suites themed around famous jazz musicians, with subtle nods to vintage vinyl and brass instruments.
The attached Jazz Corner Cafe hosts live music nights (obviously)… perfect for sipping espresso martinis to smooth saxophone tunes. Rooms come with kitchenettes, making it a smart pick for longer stays or travelers who prefer some homey comfort.
If you’re not a fan of jazz, though, you might find the theme overwhelming. Some guests also note that soundproofing isn’t the best when bands play late. But overall, it’s a quirky, soulful alternative to the usual chain hotels.
A standout breakfast in both taste and hospitality.
Great dining experience I had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast at jazz corner restaurant, and it was an unexpectedly refined experience. Chef Divya’s poached eggs were perfectly executed just set, not overly runny showcasing precision and balance. Her sautéed mushrooms had an exceptional texture and depth, elevating the dish beyond the usual buffet fare. Special mention to Shruti for her attentive service she ensured every detail was looked after, making the entire morning feel curated and warm. A standout breakfast in both taste and hospitality.

5. QT Melbourne

Address: 133 Russell St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia
Phone: +61 3 8636 8800
QT Melbourne is the definition of cool. Think industrial, chic, moody lighting, and staff who look like they just walked out of a fashion shoot.
Located right in the CBD, it’s surrounded by luxury boutiques, cafes, and theatres… it’s basically the pulse of Melbourne.
The rooms feature high-end amenities, rain showers, and even Dyson hairdryers (a small but excellent detail). The rooftop bar is one of the best in the city, perfect for sunset cocktails and skyline selfies.
QT’s vibe is unapologetically trendy, so if you prefer cozy charm over sleek minimalism, it might not be your cup of tea. Still, it’s hard to beat the combination of design, service, and location.
Service, food, and ambience are excellent!
QT Melbourne went above and beyond our expectations of quality, service and attention to detail. Every request of ours was welcomed and met with a “no problem” and “of course” attitude. Our experience for our 27th wedding anniversary was so positive it absolutely urged us to come here to write a review. The roof top bar was spectacular with amazing cocktails and awesome DJ music. Our breakfast the next day at the Pascale Bar and Grill was the best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. All round, this place has left a lasting and positive memory for us on our special occasion and we will definitely be returning. Its worth mentioning that our reason for booking here was because of our positive experience at QT Gold Coast last year and an excellent dining experience we enjoyed at QT Melbourne Pascale Bar and Grill. Service, food, ambience is excellent!

The room was modern and spacious.
My wife and I stayed at QT Melbourne over New Year’s and had an amazing experience-stylish, comfortable, and great value for the season. We managed to get a pretty good deal, which made the whole stay even better. The room was modern and spacious. The rooftop bar was a real highlight, offering an amazing atmosphere and great views of the city. Staff were friendly and professional, and the location right at the heart of Melbourne, made it easy to explore some cafes and restaurants. Overall, a memorable and well-worth-it way to celebrate the New Year together.
