And it’s not only the locals who are drawn to The Rocks—tourists sometimes head there right after checking in at their hotel. While they’re all for the colorful mix of art, music, culture, and food, some noted that prices were pretty high, with one even calling it a ‘tourist trap.’

“Great place to try local and international food. Tried the kangaroo and emu skewers, tastes good. Hot mulled wine and sangria are nice, giant cookies has cake texture. Bought some souvenirs did by locals and was a great place to visit! Also, has some tables for eating and small public toilets. Consider best market in Sydney with good food and local products being sold. Love it being near the bridge that your could walk around after food.”

2. Rozelle Collectors Market

Rozelle really is a market for collectors, filled with a huge selection of pre-loved antiques, fashion, jewellery, and art. Visitors particularly like how they all come at affordable prices, and the friendly vendors take the time to share the stories behind their items.
Plants, books, and vinyl are crowd favorites, too, together with food stalls serving Thai, Turkish, and Vietnamese cuisines. One drawback, though, is that a few found the food just average and limited, with only six to seven stalls available.
Since the theme leans toward vintage, many visitors feel a sense of nostalgia while shopping. Add to that its outdoor setting among the historic buildings of Rozelle Public School and live jazz music performed by local artists.
Like The Rocks, entry is free, and the market runs rain or shine. Still, on rare closures due to extreme weather conditions or holidays like Christmas Day, certain shoppers wished for more timely updates after showing up to find it closed.

Clothes galore. No need to pay to get in. Vintage galore. This is where stores come to purchase to re up. The one pit stop. The unique finds you pay have to cough up more but less than the antique stores. Price perfect on the whole. Fabulous finds always if you’re up for treasure hunting!”

“Great Saturday market in Sydney, easy to get to on public transport. Lots of different foods to try and interesting vendors to talk to. We found great candles, also oils and soaps that are chemical-free. Art and jewellery, leather goods etc at reasonable prices for the craftsmanship. A fun way to spend a Saturday morning.”

On the other hand, being right across from Bondi Beach, many visitors take their coffee and pastries to the shore—partly to enjoy the view, and partly to escape the midday crowds.
Because around noon, the market can get so packed that some end up turning back or going elsewhere.

“Three words for this one: variety, affordable, and ESSENTIAL! I had THE best time at this market. I was blown away by how many food options could be at one little market: Columbian, French, Spanish, Indian, Vietnamese, and then not to mention the classic market coffee and pastries. I didn’t have enough hands to carry everything I wanted. I also got some beautiful jewelry here and some felt finger puppets for my nephew back home. They had art options too. If you’re going to Bondi, you have to check out this market. I was even there on a rainy day, I can’t imagine how much better it would be on a sunny day!”

Located right in the heart of Manly Beach, visitors have come to love the inviting seaside vibe that makes the stalls feel like a natural extension of the beach itself. A couple of popular picks include handcrafted sea glass jewellery, original art, and homewares.
The approachable stallholders here are emerging artists, microbusiness owners, and creative tinkerers. It’s the kind of atmosphere that inspires people to shop local—sometimes for hours—serenaded by a live band and with free underground Council parking at Central Manly.
On the downside, as unique as their products are, they’re a bit pricey for other shoppers. The limited shaded areas also don’t help, particularly with the crowds and constant buzz that tend to make the experience feel overwhelming on hotter days.

“These are fantastic markets set near the beautiful Manly Beach. There’s so much variety to look through. I especially liked all the handmade items on offer. These are definitely one of my favourite markets to go to. Lots of arty pieces that I loved. Can’t wait to go back. So easy to get to with the Manly Ferry. The markets are on the doorstep of the fantastic Manly Beach also, this is such an iconic beach. Thumbs up!!”
