As brides recount their visits, many remember the joy and excitement they felt, the range of styles available, and the beautifully laid-out space. It’s no wonder they personally recommend the store to others looking for a great wedding dress shopping experience.
Let’s not forget the staff who are said to be kind, thoughtful, and accommodating to every need. Still, some customers faced impatient consultants unfamiliar with basic alterations or their own inventory, which made the five-dress try-on policy harder to navigate.
The Sample Sale, viewable online and in-store, is definitely an upside, where there are options under $1,000. Add in the veils from $280, sleeves, gloves, and neck scarves from $350, as well as personalized robes and jackets from $210.
A special experience—accommodating and helpful to find the perfect dress
“I cannot express the joy and excitement I had when visiting the Ivory Room to find my wedding dress. The team were so incredibly accomodating and so helpful to find that perfect dress. My experience with them was just so special. I honestly wouldn’t recommend anywhere else, ladies if you are looking for a place with an incredible experience to spend with your bridesmaids then this is the place.”

Beautifully laid-out space, incredible range, and expert advice
“As soon as I entered the ivory room, I knew I was in good hands. The space itself is stunning, stylish and beautifully laid out. Every single dress I tried I fell in love with! Their range of designers and styles is incredible and it made it very tricky to pick a favourite! But with the expert advice and honest (whilst sensitive and professional) feedback from the girls, I was able to pick my dream dress and feel confident that I would walk down the aisle feeling like my best self. The girls were SO helpful! I was so grateful for their tips, tricks and feedback. They even had advice on what to do with my hands to be less awkward in photos!”

2. Made With Love Bridal

Address: Suite 7/15-17 Stanley St, St Ives
Email: [email protected]
Business hours:
- Monday-Wednesday & Friday-Sunday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Thursday, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
One thing customers often mention about Made With Love (MWL) is how fun and relaxed the appointments are. Much of the credit goes to the stylists, whose knowledge, expertise, and recommendations make it easier for brides to choose or find ‘the dress’.
A handful of clients also consider MWL to be their first and last stop, instantly clicking with the ready-to-wear Australian-designed dresses. These pieces—ranging from $1,500 to $3,100—come in styles like mini, fitted, or flowy, and in fabrics such as lace, crepe, or satin.
While most walked away excited to wear their dress, those who opted for made-to-order had issues with the fit—too-tight or too-loose areas and mismatched cup sizes. Others pointed to unwelcoming sales assistants, including one reportedly calling out a client for ordering late.
What’s nice is that brides can bring up to four guests to their fittings and drink champagne as they enjoy the moment. Moreover, MWL’s veils from $190, scarves from $200, and gloves from $130 are also favorites for completing the look with a touch of elegance.
Knew so much, made the experience fun, and helped me find my dress
“I recently had an appointment at made with love and was lucky enough to be styled by Nat. From the moment we walked it in the service was exceptional. Nat was professional and knew so much about the variety of dresses they stock. She made our experience fun and special and I was lucky enough to find my dream dress as Nat organised a rush order for me after helping me find my dress. Couldn’t recommend made with love more!”

Beautiful experience—gown recommendations and expertise made it stress-free
“Had my first and only wedding dress try on session with the beautiful Isabella at the St Ives boutique. The boutique, the girls, the gowns & the overall experience itself was so beautiful, but having Isabella help me try on gowns & have gowns recommended by her just made it that bit more seamless, stress free and utterly amazing. I had the best morning with my loved ones & enjoyed the experience so much! Isabella exceeded my expectations with her ideas & expertise. I was so nervous & she put me right at ease & made me feel so comfortable. She even bought us to tears when I tried on ‘the one’. I’m so glad I chose MWL for my first ever experience & better yet found & purchased my dream dress, thanks to Isabella!”

3. Vera Wang Sydney

Address: 117 Macquarie St
Phone: +61 422 108 508
Business hours: By appointment
Given Vera Wang’s big-name status, one might expect appointments at her boutique to be exclusive or intimidating. But local brides who’ve been there say it’s actually the opposite, highlighting the warm, attentive staff, free parking, and quality that justifies the price.
One even described the experience as a fully complimentary visit, while another said the fittings were by far the most patient and genuinely helpful. It’s no surprise brides also talk about how they felt relaxed and cared for—along with the four guests they were welcome to bring.
Beyond their signature structured gowns with flattering corsets, Vera Wang Sydney carries veils, sashes, headpieces, and shoes. Despite the variety, some brides hesitated to move forward due to the premium pricing, which caught them off guard since it’s not listed online.
And yet, the experienced stylists are a big reason clients continue to give the store five-star ratings. Their sharp eye for detail, thoughtful advice, and expertise all play a big part in creating a final look that truly reflects each bride’s personal style.
Amazing dress fitting—by far the most attentive, patient, and genuinely helpful
“I had an amazing experience with Liz and Gemma during my dress fitting! Out of the five fittings I attended, they were by far the most attentive, patient, and genuinely helpful. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and supported throughout the process.”

Great variety, a comfortable experience, and quality dresses
“My appointment was a pleasant surprise! I wasn’t even aware Vera had a bridal range until I came across it on socials media recently, and love that Vera Wang don’t take advantage of newly engaged brides to be and have a fully complementary visit. The quality of the dresses compared to the reasonable prices were unmatched to anything I’ve tried in Sydney yet. Not tacky flimsy dresses you pay far too much for. Variety was great and Gemma made our experiance a whole lot more comfortable.”

The lowest people spend on a KYHA wedding dress is $1,295, while the highest can go up to $13,995. Fees for try-ons and consultations add to the total cost, which certain customers felt weren’t worth it due to rushed sessions or late, pushy sales assistants.

Enjoyable experience—warm atmosphere and the gown of my dreams
“My experience here was beyond what I expected for my first bridal appointment. My stylist, Mariana, went above and beyond to help me find the gown of my dreams. She listened and worked with me to create a gown that covered all bases of what I was after. The atmosphere in the store is so warm and welcoming from the minute you walk in. The whole experience was extremely enjoyable for myself and my 3 guests.”

5. Rhonda Hemmingway Couture

Address: The Dymocks Building, Studio 11. 1ST, 428 George St
Phone: +61 417 662 916
Business hours:
- Tuesday, 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM
- Wednesday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Thursday & Friday, 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
First off, Rhonda Hemmingway is highly respected for her skill in designing, cutting, assembling, and sewing gowns. These very talents place her among Australia’ s few true couturiers—even winning Best Couture Gown Designer in the 2021 ABIA Wedding Industry Awards.
With that, it’s easy to believe the stories of Rhonda and her team making everything perfect. From the beautiful sketches and creative input to the luxurious fabrics and matching veils, brides and bridesmaids ended up in dresses that felt as elegant as they were comfortable.
One can start from scratch or work around Rhonda’s designs like the Bonnie (beaded lace), Claudia (corsetted bodice), and Blakely (pure silk satin). A fun fact: her gowns have actually been worn by celebrities on TV, in magazines, and at award shows.
Even with all these positives, some brides and their entourage were rudely spoken to rudely and met with annoyance for arriving early. It didn’t help that they were asked to come back later, instead of being let in.
Superb to work with, so many fabric options, and perfect fitting
“I cannot recommend Rhonda and her team highly enough – they were superb to work with from the very first appointment! I had a very clear idea of the dress I wanted and they created it in the most absolutely perfect way. Rhonda drew an exact sketch of what I wanted during our first meeting based on a rough description from me and the rest is history! Every appointment and fitting was perfect. I was provided with so many fabric options which enabled me to create the ideal feel for my design. We were so happy with Rhonda and her team, that we even asked them to make my two bridesmaid’s dresses as well.”

Incredible workmanship—beautiful sketch, gorgeous lining, and matching veils
“Wedding Dress Designer of Dreams! From my initial appointment with Rhonda to plan my wedding dress I felt at ease as Rhonda knew exactly what I wanted to achieve and created the most beautiful sketch and design. Rhonda is so creative and helped me select the perfect French Chantilly Lace and suggested gorgeous lining fabrics, matching veils and accessories. I loved the experience and trusted her so much that I also had a party dress made for the wedding night. Rhonda is such a perfectionist which is SO important as my dress couldn’t have fitted better, the workmanship is incredible!”
