5 best indoor playgrounds in Australia where kids play safely and parents can relax

  • Strict safety standards: We looked for indoor playgrounds that follow strict safety protocols—picture well-maintained structures, padded floors, and clearly marked age zones. We also gave extra points to venues with trained staff who keep an eye out while kids play.
  • Fun features for every age: A great indoor playground has something for everyone—from toddlers learning to walk to energetic kids ready to climb, bounce, and slide non-stop. We picked places with varied play zones like soft play, obstacle courses, and interactive areas.
  • Cleanliness and hygiene: You don’t want to worry about sticky surfaces or questionable ball pits, do you? So we only included playgrounds that have solid cleaning policies, visible schedules, and regular sanitizing routines.
  • Parent-friendly amenities: While the kids run wild, parents and guardians deserve a little break, too. We scouted out indoor playgrounds with comfy seating, air conditioning, and cafes or snack bars to make supervising from the sidelines more enjoyable.
  • Great value for money: Your kids can easily play inside your home for free, so we made sure to choose playgrounds that offer good pricing for what you get. We considered things like all-day access and bundled family passes—even better if they let adults in for free!

When you go out with your kids, right on top of your priority list—besides the fun—is safety. Sure, it’s heartwarming to see them bouncing up and down with joy or hear their giggles while they play—but at the end of the day, what matters most is that they go home in one piece.

And that’s probably why, when you get to the playground, your parent eagle eyes do their work. You make sure that the slide ends with a soft landing, the climbing wall is secure, or the ball pits are clean enough for a dive.

The best indoor playgrounds in Australia will certainly check all your boxes and put your mind at ease. With play zones designed for safe, worry-free fun, you and your little ones can both relax and leave with a day that feels truly well-spent.

How much does entrance to indoor playgrounds cost in Australia?

Entrance to indoor playgrounds in Australia ranges from $5 to $25 per child for general admission. Prices vary based on the venue, the child’s age, and the length of stay—with some places offering discounted family passes or multi-passes for repeat visits.

With five other branches, Vitaland Kids Cafe brings a cafe and indoor playground experience not only to Miranda, but also to Rhodes, Alexandria, St. Leonards, Eastwood, and Warriewood. As a result, parents appreciate the convenience of visiting the location nearest to them.

But toddlers and their parents seem to have grown a particular liking to the Miranda branch, with many coming back multiple times for the soft, imaginative play—ball pits, dress-ups, trains, and ride-on toys. Not to mention the free coffee upon entry and the clean, well-kept space.

While most customers had no issues with the toys and costumes, there were reports of dirty stuffed animals, missing batteries, and ripped costumes. And although the staff is said to be friendly, some were disappointed to find the reception area occasionally unattended.

The upside is Vitaland’s affordability, with all-day single passes at just $5.50 on weekdays and $6.80 on weekends. What’s more, their party packages have made more than 30,000 families happy, and the menu features colorful smoothies and hearty sandwiches.

Pros

  • Multiple locations
  • All soft, imaginative play
  • Free coffee upon entry
  • Friendly staff
  • Affordable prices

Cons

  • Broken items
  • Occasionally unattended reception

My son loves it here

“This place is fantastic. A little paradise for kids. Large enough that parents can go and enjoy the fun too. Ball pits, dress ups, a train ride, loads of toys, and ride on toys. My son absolutely loves it here. A little Cafe for snacks and coffee and a free coffee on entry. They also do birthday parties. It’s a great idea. We need more of these. Perfect for rainy days when kids can’t go to outside parks but perfect for any day really. 10/10. Highly recommend.”

Well-managed party and friendly staff

“We had our daughter’s birthday party here and I could not fault it at all. The catering (even for the adults) was great, the party itself was logically structured and well managed, the venue was clean and the kids had an absolute ball. The staff were friendly, service was quick and professional. All the parents were very impressed. Highly recommend!”

Families love Funtopia for its exciting attractions—colorful, interactive climbing walls, sensory play zones, big slides, and more that keep kids of all ages moving and engaged. Even better, the helpful and cheerful crew makes them feel their kids are in safe hands.

For timeouts, parents head to the in-house Mr. Spriggins Restaurant, where the food and coffee are always a win. However, a few have commented that they’re expensive and lack healthy options, with dirty plates often piling up due to the busy staff.

On the other hand, many say that the place is impressively clean and well-organized for such a big playground. The private party rooms are also a bonus, ideal for hosting stress-free birthday celebrations.

Funtopia’s pricing is considered budget-friendly, too, with three-hour play sessions ranging from $10 to $18. That said, some visitors felt it was a bit much that outside socks aren’t allowed and that they had to purchase a pair onsite for $3.50.

Pros

  • Exciting, all-level attractions
  • Helpful, cheerful crew
  • In-house restaurant
  • Clean and well-organized

Cons

  • Expensive, limited healthy food
  • Mandatory sock purchase

Such a wonderful environment for families

“We’ve visited Funtopia many times with our three boys, and every time has been great—but today was truly exceptional. The staff were all so friendly, polite, kind, and full of smiles. The climbing area was run by three team members who were not only professional but made it so fun for the kids. It was heartwarming to see how encouraging and kind they were—genuinely engaging with the kids and making it a really positive experience. The café crew were just as lovely—happy, chatty, and really added to the welcoming vibe. It’s rare to see such consistently amazing service, and I just had to share how impressed we were. Thank you, Funtopia, for creating such a wonderful environment for families!”

Such great fun for the kids and delicious food

Kidz Shed has something for everyone—the ball pits are baby- and toddler-friendly, while the six-meter vertical slides appeal more to big kids. And just beside is the cafe, where families can enjoy well-presented crowd favorites like lasagna and pizza.

Some parents just wish the slide area had better lighting to help them keep an eye on their children. A few also noticed that the upkeep could be improved at times, with things like dusty tables and ride-on and plush toys showing a bit of wear.

On a more positive note, many have praised their cozy and clean party rooms, along with the patient and welcoming staff organizing birthday parties. Mothers, in particular, appreciate that everything is catered for, including the cake and entertainment programs.

As for the pricing, you’ll be glad to know that adults, parents, and infants less than 12 months can enter for free. Meanwhile, it’s $10.90 for children aged 1 to 4 and $13.90 for those 5 years old and above.

Accommodating staff, quality food, and great play center

“This place is fantastic. Friendly, accomodating staff, restaurant quality food, great coffee and of course a great play centre. We’ve been here so many times now and it is consistantly good in every way. They made our daughters 3rd birthday party an absolute breeze for us. We booked a large group at very late notice and nothing was too hard for them. So helpful and lovely. Kids and adults all had a ball. We always leave looking forward to our next visit.”

Nice, clean, and fantastic at organizing parties

“Had our sons birthday party here last week – always a great play centre, nice and clean and not too big so you can (usually) find the kids pretty easily! Lisa is fantastic at helping organise parties and taking care of everything while we were in – nothing was too much trouble!”

At Monkey Mania, families feel at ease thanks to the approachable and kind staff. Visitors often praise how they really get out of their way to keep them comfortable—plus the delicious coffee they make and serve at the cafe.

This indoor playground is a land of climbing walls, bouncy castles, ride-on karts, and more. But new parents gravitate toward the under 5’s play zones, where their infants can have a safe, engaging space full of soft play structures like foam blocks and ball pits to explore.

With no booking needed, you can simply drop in and pay for entrance. This is where some customers encountered issues—receptionists weren’t able to explain pricing clearly, leading to confusion about the rates for each age group and what was included in their pass.

It helps that they have a ‘Toddler Cheap Tuesday,’ granting a $9 entry for infants and children aged 1 to 4. On top of that, you can enjoy 10% off cafe purchases, though adult platters are unfortunately excluded.

Pros

  • Approachable, kind staff
  • Attraction variety
  • Under 5’s play zones
  • Special promos

Cons

  • Confusing pricing
  • Unclear communication

Top-notch customer service and great coffee

“Had a fantastic experience at Bankstown Monkey Mania! Helen was absolutely amazing—her customer service was top-notch. She was friendly, helpful, and went out of her way to make sure everything ran smoothly. On top of that, she makes a great coffee too! Highly recommend this place for a fun day out with the kids. Thanks again, Helen!”

Landing Playcentre Ravenhall’s play areas are divided into three—first is the toddler area, which parents love for its soft play climbing structures. Second is the main area that gets kids excited to dive into a big ball pit or try out slides in all sorts of lengths and levels.

The final section at the back features fun themes like a supermarket and kitchen, where little ones can play as grocery staff or chefs. Entry costs $13.95 to $15.95 for toddlers (1-2 years), $15.95 to $17.95 for juniors (3+), and $4 for adults, including a drink voucher.

Space-wise, visitors praise the clean equipment and welcoming vibe. This stands out even more during birthday parties held in their available private rooms, accompanied by good food and an accommodating crew.

On the downside, some parents wished there were more toilets, saying two cubicles each for males and females weren’t enough. Others were concerned about the lack of staff supervision in the toddler area, especially when older kids occasionally ran in to play.

Pros

  • Exciting, engaging play areas
  • Clean equipment
  • Welcoming vibe
  • Accommodating crew

Cons

  • Insufficient toilets
  • Lack of toddler area supervision

Great kiddy simulations and clean floor space

Reasonable entry ticket and party and food prices

“My 5yrs boy had a birthday party in Dec. This is a wonderful and amazing experience for our whole family and other families that came on that day. People gave us feedback that this playground is very clean with lots of facilities, food is pretty tasty. When we went through the party during 2hours, they have very reliable party host communicating with me regarding each single step. If you have any extra requirement, just tell them and they act pretty quick. Entry ticket, party price and food price are all reasonable with reliable service. Hope Landing can keep doing very well!”
